SinoUnited Health has established a dedicated CAR-T Cell Therapy International Consultation Centre at Shanghai SinoUnited Hospital. The centre was created to give international patients a single, coordinated pathway into chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy — from initial eligibility review to infusion and follow-up.
Why a dedicated centre
CAR-T is a personalised therapy that requires close coordination between haematology, apheresis, laboratory logistics and inpatient care. For patients travelling to China, the added layers of language, visa timing and insurance make that coordination even more important. The new centre is designed to manage the entire journey under one team.
The centre is a member of the Pan-Yangtze River Delta CAR-T Full-Process Management Expert Alliance and an official member of the Shanghai Ruijin Haematology Medical Alliance, connecting it to leading haematology expertise in Shanghai.
What the centre offers
- Eligibility assessment and multidisciplinary review for lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma.
- Lymphocyte collection (apheresis) and coordination of cell manufacturing.
- Infusion and structured inpatient monitoring for side effects and response.
- Post-treatment follow-up coordinated with your home physician.
"Coming to Shanghai was one of the best decisions I've made. Looking back, if I had understood the potential of treatments like CAR-T earlier, I would have started this journey much sooner." — Patient from New Zealand treated with CAR-T at Shanghai SinoUnited Hospital
International experience
The centre has handled more than 100 overseas enquiries and has treated 30+ international patients from countries and regions including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong, China. In 2025 the hospital reviewed more than 800 multidisciplinary (MDT) cases.
Planning your timeline
Because cell manufacturing typically takes about 3–4 weeks, international patients should plan for an extended stay or a two-stage visit. Our team will map the full schedule — assessment, collection, manufacturing, infusion and observation — before you travel, along with an indicative cost and insurance options.
To explore whether CAR-T may be appropriate, send your diagnosis, pathology and prior treatment records to our international patient team for a confidential specialist review.
