CAR-T: What to Expect
CAR-T is a personalised therapy in which a patient's own T-cells are collected, engineered and re-infused. Because it follows a defined sequence, international patients should plan for the full timeline:
- 1. Assessment & screening — eligibility, organ function and disease status reviewed by the MDT.
- 2. Lymphocyte collection — apheresis at our hospital.
- 3. Manufacturing — typically about 3–4 weeks for cell engineering.
- 4. Infusion — given in hospital with close monitoring.
- 5. Inpatient observation — monitoring for response and side effects before discharge.
- 6. Follow-up — structured review and coordination with your home physician.
Technology & Collaboration
- Full-process CAR-T management — from collection and manufacturing logistics to infusion and post-infusion monitoring.
- MDT tumour board for complex and solid-tumour cases.
- Mayo Clinic collaboration informing clinical quality control and complex-case review.
- 40+ insurer direct billing to simplify payment for eligible international patients.
