SinoUnited Health maintains a strategic partnership with Mayo Clinic that spans hospital development, specialty enhancement and clinical quality control. As part of that collaboration, an official Mayo Clinic second-opinion channel is available to patients at SinoUnited.
What is a second opinion?
A second opinion is an independent review of your diagnosis, imaging and treatment plan by another specialist team. It is not a replacement for your treating doctor — it is a way to confirm that the recommended path is the right one for you, especially for complex or serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease or neurological disorders.
How it works at SinoUnited
- Local specialist review first: our own specialists assess your records and provide a written opinion.
- Mayo Clinic channel: where appropriate and with your consent, your case can be submitted through the official second-opinion channel.
- A consolidated view: you receive clear guidance on the recommended next steps, in your language.
Who benefits most
A second opinion can be especially valuable if you have received a new diagnosis of a complex condition, if several treatment options have been proposed, or if you are considering travelling to China for care and want independent confirmation before committing.
Requesting a review
To begin, share your diagnosis summary, recent imaging (on disc or via link), pathology reports and current treatment plan with our international patient team. We will confirm what additional information is needed and outline the process and any associated fees before proceeding.
A second opinion supports informed decisions. Final treatment recommendations always rest with your treating physicians, following a full clinical assessment.
